MONSTA X's Shownu Confesses He Loves Hearing Junior Idols Say They're A Fan

In a recent interview and pictorial for Elle magazine, MONSTA X’s Shownu revealed it makes him extremely happy when he finds out he’s impressed junior artists!

After posing for the magazine’s April issue, the idol sat down for a post-shoot interview in which he talked about being known as “bear Shownu.” When asked about the nickname, he explained, “I often hear that my slow, relaxed look resembles a bear. It’s a nickname I like.”

Shownu also spoke about his recent variety show “Hungry for Delivery? Just Order It!” (literal translation), remarking, “It was always so much fun on the filming set.” As for the Mnet audition program “CAP-TEEN,” on which he served as a judge, Shownu fondly recalled, “I was judges together with Lee Seung Chul on ‘CAP-TEEN,’ and the advice he gave to the contestants made me stop and reflect on my own self. I want to be positively influenced by other people.”

Not only does Shownu want to be positively influenced by other stars, but as it turns out, he also really enjoys being a positive influence on younger artists in the industry.

“When junior idols tell me, ‘You’re cool,’ or ‘I’m a fan,’ I feel so grateful and proud that I can’t express it in words,” he shared. “Even though I can’t express it on the outside, it’s one of the things that makes me extremely happy.”

Finally, Shownu looked back on his career as he reflected on the nature of challenges and trying new things.

“I don’t have a daring personality, but when an opportunity comes my way, I try to at least take on the challenge,” said the idol. “MONSTA X releasing a full-length album in English in the U.S., or participating in a survival program as a judge—I personally think those were new challenges for me.”
