K-Pop Stars Who Could Totally Rock These Trends From 2021 FW Seoul Fashion Week

The 2021 F/W Seoul Fashion Week took place at the end of April with a completely digital format, but that didn’t mean it had less appeal and excitement than live runway shows. It was even more amazing because viewers got to virtually see and experience iconic landmarks in Seoul such as the National Museum, Oil Tank Culture Park, Dongdaemun Design Plaza, and the Han River Park. Standing out from these must-visit backgrounds were masterpieces from talented Korean designers. Here are some of the hottest trends that I’ve re-imagined with K-pop stars based on their current styles.

Statement pleather – Lisa of BLACKPINK

One trendy piece spotted in several collections, such as Setsetset, A Bell, Holy Number 7, and Big Park, was the pleather jacket with puffy shoulder detail. This is an edgy and powerful look that can either be dressed up with a matching skirt or dressed down with jeans or shorts. It’s the cool “it” item that can transform any look. We can see this big energy on BLACKPINK’s Lisa, who can work this as a cropped outerwear in an epic dance video!

Matching set with crystal details – Jennie of BLACKPINK

Jennie can perfectly suit any outfit, but one thing that she made immensely popular was the “high teen” look, which is a combination of youthful, modern, and luxurious styles with a hint of preppiness. This stunning look by Ice Garden took the matching suit to the next level with hardware and crystal details. Imagine Jennie wearing this on stage, looking extra glam with the crystals swaying with her as she dances, giving her that extra shine!

Fringe sports cap – EXO

EXO has a very eclectic style when it comes to music and fashion, but they often have a touch of grunge and athleisure, a combination that is seen in Caruso’s tailored yet casual and sporty collection. This cool accessory from the brand would add a touch of mystery and edge to an EXO video. Imagine the fringes slightly revealing their handsome faces as they move to the beat!

Barbed wire print – SUGA of BTS

Suga has the perfect duality of chill and unbothered while transforming into a strong, powerful rapper onstage. This barbed wire print in matching pants and jacket by Manod could reflect that electrifying persona even more. We can’t wait for him to release another solo single and rock the stage in style!

Androgynous style – V of BTS

V is also one of those style stars who can pull off any look, but he exudes even more confidence and allure when he wears androgynous styles or in head-to-toe Gucci, which often take on retro vintage looks. Lo Axual’s brand DNA was built on the concept of “soft but rough,” with styles that go beyond gender and era. We can already envision V wearing the pale grey matching suit finished off with a faux fur and scarf!

Light pink ruffles and flounces – Oh My Girl

Known as Korea’s “national fairies,” Oh My Girl often creates ethereal, feminine, and magical concepts. But that doesn’t mean their performances are always soft and dreamy. They balance it out with elaborate choreography and strong performances. This collection by Saint Mill provides that fine line between sleek and soft, a pale pink collection with precise tailoring, softened by the ruffles and flounces that give it a touch of fantasy.

Neon tie-dye – EVERGLOW

EVERGLOW is known for their dark concepts, catchy songs, and strong stage presence. This contemporary take on tie-dye by Kimzisu could fit their mind-blowing music videos while adding a pop of color.

Ivy League-inspired streetwear – TXT and Ciipher

The preppy school look isn’t new in K-pop, but it’s always fun to see how groups put their own spins on the trend. Beyond Closet is a menswear brand that seamlessly combines sportswear and sleek tailoring for a casual-cool look. This would look great with TXT and Ciipher’s boyish charms with a touch of charisma.

Graphic print on print – ITZY and Red Velvet

K-pop would not be complete without clashing or matching prints, bright colors, and unexpected styling. Greedilous is a brand that is known for incorporating eclectic prints and experimental color combinations. We can never really predict the next styles of ITZY and Red Velvet, which makes them even more exciting to watch. These confident and talented ladies are often pushing the boundaries when it comes to mixing and matching outfits, and both groups could totally pull this bold style off.

Luminescent fabric – Chungha

Chungha’s style can be described as feminine chic with an edge, as she often mixes form-fitting pieces with streetwear outfits that allow her to dance hard choreography. These luminescent pieces from Parts of Universe that shine and turn a different color based on the lighting are perfect for the glowing queen that she is!

Denim corset – HyunA and Sunmi

Sexy and cool, this denim corset from Aimons could look amazing on Sunmi and HyunA, who are both the perfect embodiment of those words.

Elaborate print dresses – (G)I-DLE and IU

Doucan is a prominent Korean designer brand that is known for its signature print dresses that are inspired by traditional Korean designs with a touch of western influences. The collection is elegant, classic, and edgy, something that IU and (G)I-DLE might look even more stunning in. IU often gravitates towards vintage looks (some of the dresses from Doucan are giving us “Hotel Del Luna” vibes), while (G)I-DLE often has that mystical, creative, and conceptual look that tells a story with every new release.

Some of these designers are already dressing Korea’s top stars and idols, and we can’t wait to see how the standout pieces will be transformed on music videos and stages!
