Son Seok Gu's Agency Denies School Violence Allegations Involving Actor + Taking Legal Action

Son Seok Gu agency has denied the allegations made by a netizen claiming that the actor had been a perpetrator of school violence.

On August 31, a netizen referred to as A uploaded a social media post accusing Song Seok Gu of being a perpetrator of school violence when he was a student.

A stated that they went to the same middle school as Son Seok Gu, one located in Daejeon, and that they had witnessed Son Seok Gu’s violence towards other students. A claimed that Son Seok Gu had been one of the students at the forefront of the school violence that took place.

A wrote, “Son Seok Gu only picked the weaker ones to harass,” stating that Son Seok Gu strangled the victims, hit them on the back of their heads, and took off his slippers to hit them with the slippers. The netizen explained that there had been no disciplinary action on Son Seok Gu from the school as the law preventing school violence did not exist back in the 1990s and because schools at the time did not actively crack down on such actions.

According to A, the victim revealed his experience later on as a high school student, but the case was covered up by the school. A continued, “I’ve had a heavy heart due to the shock of the incident and for having been a bystander instead of helping the victim as a witness. So when I saw Son Seok Gu appear on TV, I couldn’t help but be enraged. I am writing this in order to not be a bystander this time.”

One day after the post was shared, Son Seok Gu’s agency SBD Entertainment stated, “According to the agency’s research, the contents of the post are false. We are in the process of taking legal action against the netizen who uploaded the post.”

Born 1983, Son Seok Gu debuted in 2017 through the second season of “Sense8” and starred in dramas like “Mother,” “Suits,” “Matrimonial Chaos,” “Designated Survivor: 60 Days,” “Melo Is My Nature,” and most recently, “D.P.”
