BTS Certified Double Million + BLACKPINK, D.O., And More Receive Platinum Certifications From Gaon

Gaon Chart has announced its latest batch of official certifications!

In 2018, the Korea Music Content Industry Association implemented a certification system for album sales, song downloads, and online streaming.

Starting with music released on or after January 1, 2018, Gaon Chart certifies albums platinum once they reach 250,000 sales, while albums that have sold a million copies or more receive a “million” certification. Certifications are given when at least six weeks have passed since the album’s release.

On September 9, it was announced that BTS’s “Butter” CD has been certified double million for exceeding 2 million album sales. BLACKPINK’s “KILL THIS LOVE” and ENHYPEN’s “BORDER : DAY ONE” have been certified double platinum for surpassing 500,000 sales, while D.O.’s “Empathy,” NCT DREAM’s “Hello Future” (Kit Version), MONSTA X’s “ARE YOU THERE?,” and SEVENTEEN’s “DIRECTOR’S CUT” were certified platinum for 250,000 sales each.

A song reaches platinum status for downloads once it exceeds 2.5 million downloads. American singer Billie Eilish’s “bad guy” has now been certified platinum for achieving this feat.

Platinum certification for streaming is achieved when a song surpasses 100 million streams. This month, Changmo received double platinum certification for his 2019 song “METEOR.”

Congratulations to all the artists!
