Labelmates Singer-Songwriter And Boy Group Main Vocalist Partner Up For Special Duet Episode Of " The King Of Mask Singer"
On September 19, MBC’s “The King of Mask Singer” aired a special duet episode for Chuseok (Mid-Autumn Festival). Unlike usual episodes, where masked contestants would compete for the chance to challenge the reigning champion, two masked contestants would partner up and compete as a duo.

The first match-up of Round 1 was between “Brave Brothers” and “Cheongdam-dong Sworn Brothers,” who sang Heize’s “And July.”
“Brave Brothers” advanced to the next round. Singing Jung Joon Il’s “Confession,” “Sworn Brothers” took off their masks to reveal themselves as Starship Entertainment labelmates, MONSTA X’s main vocalist Kihyun and singer-songwriter Jeong Sewoon. (Starship Entertainment is located in Cheongdam-dong.)
About their relationship, Jeong Sewoon said, “We have a senior-junior relationship. I came up from Busan and became a trainee when I was in high school. At the time, the agency was really busy preparing for a survival program. Kihyun took care of me so that I adjusted well to things. If I had a scheduled event, he would set his own alarm so he could wake me up and take care of me. It was pretty tough for trainees at the time to make time like that.”
He added, “It’s been two months since I last appeared on this show. There wasn’t a lot of time to prepare, so I felt pressured, but because I was with Kihyun, I could depend on him. I’m not the type of person who’s good at expressing my feelings, so I haven’t been able to say this to Kihyun. Through this opportunity, I’d like to thank him and hope that our relationship becomes even stronger.”
Kihyun said, “There was a hallway in our agency. The other trainees would just pass by, but Sewoon liked to play guitar, so he’d just sit on the floor and play guitar and sing. Since nobody had any money, I would put a meal voucher in his hat as I passed by.”
