VICTON's Byungchan Talks About His Character In

Following the conclusion of SBS’s “A Business Proposal,” VICTON’s Byungchan shared his thoughts about his character in the drama, his goals as an actor, and more!

Based on a popular web novel that has been adapted into a webtoon, “A Business Proposal” is a romantic comedy about an office employee who goes on a blind date with her company’s CEO in place of a friend while hiding her identity. Ahn Hyo Seop stars as chaebol heir Kang Tae Moo, while Kim Sejeong stars as food researcher Shin Ha Ri, who stands in for her best friend and chaebol heiress Jin Young Seo (Seol In Ah) at a blind date with Kang Tae Moo. Byungchan plays Shin Ha Min, Ha Ri’s troublemaker younger brother.

According to Nielsen Korea, the April 5 finale of “A Business Proposal” garnered an average nationwide rating of 11.4 percent. The drama also ranked No. 4 on Netflix’s TV series global ranking for the fourth week of March, highlighting the show’s popularity around the globe.

Byungchan expressed his gratitude to the viewers, saying, “I think we were able to wrap up the drama well thanks to the viewers’ love and support, so I feel very proud. I’m happy to have brought joy to the viewers.”

He shared why he decided to take on the role. “I thought this would be an opportunity to show a new side of me that is the complete opposite of what I showed in my previous project.” He also talked about his character, saying, “I focused on portraying a character who is immature and younger than the other characters in the story but also cute and pure. I think I’ll remember this character for a long time because Shin Ha Min reminded me of myself when I was younger.”

Byungchan commented on his chemistry with his co-stars. “We were considerate of each other while acting, and that allowed us to have great chemistry. Everyone took good care of me, so I was able to have a lot of fun filming.” He also shared a memorable moment on set. “There’s a scene in the last episode where we all eat dinner together. We all got together for the first time, and it really felt like having dinner with family.”

The idol talked about his fellow VICTON members’ reactions. “They all had fun watching the drama, and they also told me that my character suited me well.”

Byungchan debuted as an actor in 2020 with JTBC’s “Live On.” Afterwards, he starred in “The King’s Affection,” proving his ability to act and earning the title of “next generation’s acting idol.” Earlier in January, VICTON also released their third single album “Chronograph,” which entered national music charts as well as iTunes charts around the world.

When asked about his goals for the future, he said, “In addition to acting, I want to continue to deliver joy and touching emotions to many people through various activities in a variety of fields. I’d like to be an actor whom the general public thinks of when they’re reminiscing about a specific time in their lives.” He also chose Nam Joo Hyuk and Lee Byung Hun as his role models. “They are both so cool and admirable in their works, and there are many aspects of them that I’d like to learn from and be like.”

Finally, Byungchan thanked the viewers once again, saying, “I’d like to thank you and thank you again for always giving me so much love and support. I’ll continue to grow as a VICTON member while becoming an actor who continuously works hard and matures, so I hope you’ll continue to support me. I also hope that 2022 will be a happy year for everyone.”
