6 Vibrant Idol Looks To Inspire Your Makeup This Spring

With spring time comes longer, warmer days spent outdoors surrounded by the bloom of flowers and crystal-clear skies. As the world returns to life from the gloomy winter, here are six gorgeous spring-themed idol looks to get creative with your makeup and stay Instagram-ready through the season!

1. Red Velvet’s “Feel My Rhythm” era

It hasn’t been long since Red Velvet blew us away with their stunning new spring single “Feel My Rhythm.” For this era, the girls opted to take a spin on the Japanese igari, or drunken blush look, going heavy on the pink blush just under their eyes for that soft, dreamy blushing look.

Going light on the eyeshadow to achieve a fresher look, they instead opt for some small, subtle gems around the eye area, coupled with cleanly separated false lashes. (Tip: If you don’t wear falsies, apply a thick mascara and use a pair of tweezers to gently squeeze your lashes together, creating that separated look!)

2. Wheein’s “Make Me Happy” era

While Wheein served us a multitude of iconic looks in her recent “Make Me Happy” music video, this gorgeous eye look is one of the most memorable! The MAMAMOO singer keeps it simple on her base shadow, using a light wash of shimmer before topping her lids with multicolored chunky glitters that create a unique, bright-eyed look! The rest of her makeup is matte and subtle, keeping your attention on Wheein’s eyes.

3. Taeyeon’s “Weekend” era

Color me impressed with this low-key yet cute and vibrant look from Taeyeon’s “Weekend” promotional stages! For this era, the queen of K-pop takes on a notoriously tricky eyeshadow color and absolutely blows it out of the water.

Applying just a smudge of baby blue on the inner and outer ends of her eyelid, she frames this with a smatter of pink in between and on her lower lash-line, creating a chic yet fun look without looking tacky. She completes it all with a touch of glitter in the inner corners. (Hint: Make sure each section of eyeshadow is separated to keep the colors neat and vibrant!)

4. STAYC’s “ASAP” era

On to more wearable, everyday looks, the members of STAYC stunned with this shimmery pink and peach combo in the music video for their 2021 breakout hit “ASAP”! While each member wears a slightly different style of makeup, the focus here lies in a simple, peachy eye look with a dab of shimmer, soft pink blush, and a sweep of highlighter. For that subtle glow, apply a fine, low-pigment highlight in the center of the face and nose over a matte base.

5. IU’s “LILAC” era

For years, IU has been the icon of pure, dewy makeup, and her looks for her 2021 “LILAC” promotions are no different! Much care was taken on her base makeup to achieve a gorgeous, natural glow along with light silver shimmers and just a hint of glossiness on the lips. Her brows also look much more natural than most idol makeup looks with a fresh, youthful brushed-through look.

To achieve this look, apply your base makeup in thin, translucent layers to slowly build coverage without caking on too much foundation, and opt for a dewy setting spray instead of a translucent powder!

6. IZ*ONE’s “Violeta” era

Those of us living in warmer climates will appreciate this pure matte makeup from IZ*ONE’s “HEART*IZ” mini album released in 2019. Leaning more towards warm, orangey peach tones, the girl group proves they don’t need glitter to shine in these soft, dreamy looks.

Each eyeshadow, blush, and lipstick is carefully chosen to fall close to one another on the color spectrum, creating a simple, monotone look completed by a gradient lip, smear of mascara, and brown pencil liner to define the eyes while still maintaining that dreamy, powdery softness.
