Woo Do Hwan And WJSN's Bona In Talks To Star In New Historical Drama

Woo Do Hwan and WJSN’s Bona may be starring in a new drama together!

On May 10, News1 reported that Woo Do Hwan and Bona will be starring as the leads of the upcoming drama “Joseon Lawyer” (literal title).

In response to the report, a source from Bona’s agency King Kong by Starship shared, “It’s true that Bona has received an offer to star in ‘Joseon Lawyer.’ She is reviewing the offer.” A representative of KeyEast similarly replied, “Woo Do Hwan has received the script, and he is positively considering starring in the drama.”

Based on a webtoon of the same name, “Joseon Lawyer” is a cathartic and warm drama following the story of the wicked lawyer Kang Han Soo, who files lawsuits that are previously planned and uses the feelings of wronged victims to his advantage, as he unintentionally becomes revered as a hero and a problem solver among the common people. Eventually, he matures to become a truly just lawyer.

“Joseon Lawyer” uses the Gyeongguk daejeon (code of law from the late Goryeo and early Joseon Dynasties) as a motif, but the story itself is fictional. The main characters will help the common people, who are treated unfairly because they don’t know about law or how to read, as they take down those with absolute authority and perfect laws that limit the power that is abused. The multi-genre fusion history drama will combine elements of romance and revenge.

Woo Do Hwan is in talks to play Hanyang’s (modern-day Seoul) greatest lawyer Kang Han Soo. He’s knowledgeable and has great acting skills that can deceive crowds, making Kang Han Soo the object of envy for many. Kang Han Soo works for revenge, but he gradually becomes the voice of the people and a hero. Previously, Woo Do Hwan impressed in “Sweet Stranger and Me,” “The Divine Fury,” “The King: Eternal Monarch,” and more. He will also be starring in the upcoming drama “Hunting Dogs” (literal translation).

Bona is in talks to star as Lee Yeon Joo who is Kang Han Soo’s client. Although she seems like a commoner who has been treated unfairly at first glance, Lee Yeon Joo is actually a character with many secrets. She meets Kang Han Soo while hiding her true feelings in order to carry out her revenge, but she becomes confused as her emotions become more and more complicated. Bona captivated audiences in the past through various projects including “Girls’ Generation 1979” and “Twenty Five, Twenty One,” raising anticipation for her next project.
