BTS To Join American President Joe Biden At The White House In Honor Of AANHPI Heritage Month

BTS is headed to the White House!

On May 26 local time, the White House issued a formal release with regards to BTS’s upcoming meeting with American President Joe Biden to discuss anti-Asian hate crimes and celebrate Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month.

BTS will visit President Biden at the White House on May 31 where they will “discuss the importance of diversity and inclusion and BTS’ platform as youth ambassadors who spread a message of hope and positivity across the world.”

Following the news of BTS’s White House visit, group leader RM shared on a fan community, “As I’m living, all sorts of things are happening. Since we’re going for a good purpose, we will have a good visit.”

RM continued, “When I went on vacation to the United States before, I only saw [the White House] from afar. [This time,] I get to go inside. Since we’re going thanks to you all, this [visit] is also yours.”

In 2017, BTS and their agency joined hands with UNICEF to create the anti-violence “LOVE MYSELF” campaign and the group renewed their commitment to the program last year. Since then, this campaign has continued to raise funds to help UNICEF in its mission to end violence against children and young people.

Last July, BTS was appointed special presidential envoys by then-President of South Korea, Moon Jae In. That following September, the group joined Moon Jae In at the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly and shared a message of hope for youth amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
