Park Ju Hyun, Kim Young Dae, And Kim Woo Seok Confirmed For New Historical Drama + Giriboy In Talks To Join
On June 14, MBC confirmed that Park Ju Hyun, Kim Young Dae, and Kim Woo Seok will be starring in a new historical rom-com titled “The Forbidden Marriage”!
“The Forbidden Marriage” is a refreshing and exhilarating palace sageuk (historical drama) about the prohibition of marriage ordered by King Yi Heon after losing the crown princess seven years prior. One day, con artist So Rang appears in front of the king and says that she can be possessed by the late crown princess’s spirit.
Park Ju Hyun, who previously impressed with her acting in “Extracurricular,” “Love All Play,” “Mouse,” “Zombie Detective,” and more, will be taking on the role of matchmaker So Rang who is also a con artist.
Kim Young Dae, who captivated audiences in “Extraordinary You,” “The Penthouse,” “Sh**ting Stars,” and more, will be playing the role of Joseon’s king and romantic lover Lee Heon. The king will do anything for the woman he loves, raising anticipation for Kim Young Dae’s sweet and charming portrayal.
Kim Woo Seok, who made himself known through “Voice,” “Rookie Cops,” and “Military Prosecutor Doberman,” will be starring as Lee Shin Won, an Uigeumbu Dosa (member of the judiciary organ) and the eldest son of Yeonguijeong (Chief State Councillor). Lee Shin Won is both coldhearted yet warm, and he is sweetly charming even though he appears nonchalant, making viewers excited for Kim Woo Seok’s next transformation.
Furthermore, Giriboy is in talks to make his acting debut through the upcoming drama as Jung Do Seok who is the Joseon Dynasty’s version of a webtoon writer. Although Jung Do Seok made a name for himself as Painter Jung for drawing a collection of paintings with a story, he now lives alone in the mountains as a student who has been preparing a long time for his Gwageo exams (highest-level state examination under the Joseon Dynasty).
“The Forbidden Marriage” is based on writer Cheon Ji Hye’s web novel, which also has a popular webtoon adaptation. The author will be writing the script for the drama, and the drama will be helmed by director Park Sang Woo who previously worked on “My Secret Terrius” and “Never Twice.”
