Lee Yoo Mi is the only Korean actor to make TIME magazine’s 2022 list of “Next Generation Leaders”!

On October 13 local time, TIME magazine announced Lee Yoo Mi as one of the latest additions to its annual list, which recognizes trailblazers and rising stars in a diverse array of fields including politics, business, culture, science, and sports.

The magazine highlighted Lee Yoo Mi’s breakout performance in the global phenomenon “Squid Game,” which made her the first Korean woman in history to win an Emmy Award for acting, as well as her memorable follow-up role in another massive international hit—”All of Us Are Dead.”

While the talented actress used to have to work part-time delivering food on foot to pay the bills, now that “Squid Game” has catapulted her to stardom, her career is finally taking off in a big way. Lee Yoo Mi is currently shining in her first leading role (in the drama “Mental Coach Jegal“), and she is also gearing up to star in the highly-anticipated sequel to “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon.”

However, in her interview with TIME, Lee Yoo Mi humbly remarked, “The global recognition further strengthened my mindset that no matter how things change around me, I should remain who I am.”
