Most K-pop fans know Choi Siwon as the handsome visual of popular boy band Super Junior. However, the talented singer actually made his acting debut in a small cameo a year before Super Junior’s official debut. Since then, Siwon has gone on to act in numerous dramas and films in Korea, China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. His latest role is in the newest MBC drama, “She Was Pretty.” If you’re already watching this funny and entertaining drama on Viki, but find yourself wanting more Siwon while waiting for the newest episodes every week, then there are plenty of other dramas you can watch in the meantime! One of my favorite series of all-time, this 2012 drama by SBS shows the production that goes on behind the scenes of our favorite dramas. It stars Kim Myung Min as Anthony, the arrogant (yet talented) CEO of a production company. After a huge fall from grace, Anthony is left struggling to make ends meet. In order to make it back to the top, he must depend on the help of drama writer Lee Go Eun (played by the lovely Jung Ryeo Won) and spoiled actor Kang Hyun Min (played by Choi Siwon). Watch “King of Dramas” here.

Choi Siwon takes on the lead role in this 2011 television series focusing on the lives and work of a special investigative unit of the Korean Coast Guard. After his boss’s wife is killed, Sun Woo is assigned to help bring down her murderers — a large, powerful criminal organization. The closer he gets to finding out the truth about the gangster’s boss, the more people seem to be killed and hurt. Sun Woo is rescued from a bad situation from a co-worker (played by TVXQ‘s Yunho), who is later kidnapped. Sun Woo goes undercover to take down the crime boss once and for all. Watch “Poseidon” here.

Skip Beat

Although I generally stick to Korean dramas, this is a Taiwanese series that I happen to adore as it is based on the manga of the same name. Gong Xi (Ivy Chen) is devoted to helping her childhood sweetheart succeed as a musician. When he hits it big however, Bu Po Shang (played by Super Junior‘s Donghae) leaves his girlfriend behind. Thirsty for revenge, Gong Xi decides to become a even bigger star than Shang. Through a series of events, she soon discovers a love for acting and is cast in a role opposite the famous and talented actor, Dun He Lian (Choi Siwon). With his help, she hones her acting skills and is brought face to face with Shang once more. Has she moved on, though, or is revenge still her ultimate goal? Watch “Skip Beat” here.

Athena: Goddess of War

One of the most expensive Korean dramas to ever be made, this show was a spin-off of the hit drama “Iris.” With events that began in the “Iris” series, “Athena: Goddess of War” focuses on the newly established counter-terrorism agency known as the National Anti-Terror Service. The agency is tasked with the important job of protecting the country’s nulear energy technology. Filmed in exotic locations like Rome, Venice, Honolulu, and New Zealand, this drama has a great ensemble cast, including Choi Siwon in the supporting role of a determined, young agent suffering from past trauma.

Oh! My Lady

This 2012 drama by SBS stars Choi Siwon as a spoiled, selfish top star whose life is suddenly turned upside down when he is forced to take in his illegitimate daughter. Before she showed up, the actor had no idea she existed and is left to frantically hide the truth from the public. He soon turns to his housekeeper (played by Chae Rim) for help. Fortunately for him, she is desperate to earn money in order to regain custody of her daughter from her ex-husband. Although a romance soon begins to brew, the real focus of the drama is on the selfish actor as he begins to mature and develop a better relationship with his young daughter.

Have you already seen all of the dramas on this list? If so, don’t worry! There are plenty of other Choi Siwon dramas and films to watch, including his 2015 film, “To The Fore,” which has been submitted to the Oscars as Hong Kong’s  Foreign-Language contender, and a cameo appearance in “Dramaworld.” Stay tuned to Viki to catch this charming actor in all his latest roles!
