If the past dictates the future, a secret celebrity romance is on the brink of going public!

Every New Year’s Day for the past four years, Korean celebrity news outlet Dispatch has officially announced a new couple.

Who might be going public this year? No one knows for sure, but let’s take a look back at the past four years of stars who became the first public celebrity couple of their respective year.

KIM TAE HEE RAIN

In 2013, actress Kim Tae Hee and solo artist Rain rang in the new year by publicly confirming their relationship. The pair first met when shooting a promotional campaign together in October 2011. The couple is still together, and as of January 1, will have spent four years dating in the public eye.

LEE SEUNG GI YOONA

National sweethearts Lee Seung Gi and YoonA commemorated 2014 by revealing their relationship as well. It was previously confirmed that the couple had been dating since that previous October. However, after one year and nine months together, the actor and idol parted ways, announcing their breakup in August 2015.

LEE JUNG JAE IM SAE RYUNG

On January 1, 2015, Dispatch announced the relationship of actor Lee Jung Jae and Daesang Group heiress Im Sae Ryung. The two had been dodging dating and even marriage rumors since 2010. However, when confirming their relationship, they claimed to have only recently developed romantic feelings. The two are reportedly still together.

JUNSU HANI

EXID’s Hani and JYJ’s Kim Junsu were the New Year’s Day couple of 2016. News of their relationship caused a huge reaction from fans of both idols, especially since EXID fans knew that Hani had been a Junsu fan since his days with DBSK. However, due to their hectic schedules, the two grew apart before finally ending their relationship last September.
