Winners Announced for 26th Golden Disk Awards (1st Day)

On January 11, the 26th “Golden Disk Awards” was held at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan. The episode gave an in depth look at South America’s first K-pop concert, “M-Live by CJ United Cube in Brazil.” This week “Boom the K-Pop” will air a follow-up look at the Cube Family’s trip to Brazil. With more of a behind the scenes look, this episode focuses on the activities of the artists.

Lee Ki Kwang’s Strong Spirit and M-Live by CJ United Cube in Brazil

A picture of BEAST’s Lee Ki Kwang’s "fighting spirit" was revealed through a picture of him in a wheelchair at a performance in Brazil. An episode of Mnet’s Boom the K-Pop which airs on December 29 will show the first ever South American K-Pop concert "M-Live by CJ United Cube in Brazil" in Sao Paulo, which was held on December 13.

Cube Entertainment’s New 7-Man Group to Debut in Early 2012

Cube Entertainment (BEAST, 4minute, and G.NA) will reveal their new boy group early in the year 2012. On December 26, Cube Entertainment gave out awards for their singers and also talked about the plans for next year. Cube Entertainment’s CEO Hong Seung Sung stated, “We are planning to debut a 7-man group either at the end of January or the middle of February. They are the ones who are currently mentored by Jo Kwan Woo on JTBC’s Sitcom ‘I Live in Cheong Dam Dong.’ Some of the singers on the show will actually debut as real singers.”

K-Pop continued to make strides on a global scale last week as 2NE1 had their first performance in the U.S., while Cube Entertainment artists held the very first K-Pop concert on Latin American soil. SNSD announced details for their first U.S. single, and YouTube launched a K-Pop-only channel, which is the first page dedicated to the music industry of a certain country.
