JYP Expands Partnership With Republic Records To Include Stray Kids And ITZY

JYP Entertainment is looking to extend Stray Kids’ and ITZY’s global reach through an expanded partnership with Republic Records!

According to a new report by Billboard, JYP Entertainment and Republic Records—one of the United States’ biggest labels and the No. 1 label on the Billboard charts in 2021—are expanding their strategic partnership that kicked off in 2020 with TWICE.

In addition to Republic Records helping Stray Kids and ITZY grow abroad, the two groups will also be receiving support from Imperial, an independent music company that has helped launch and market TWICE’s recent albums under the JYP-Republic partnership.

Republic Records, which is owned by Universal Music Group, is home to a star-studded roster of famous artists like Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Drake, The Weeknd, Jonas Brothers, and Post Malone. The label’s roster of K-pop artists currently includes TXT, TWICE, and TRI.BE—and now Stray Kids and ITZY.

JYP Entertainment CEO Jimmy Jeong remarked, “We are beyond delighted to move forward with Republic Records, the most outstanding label in the United States, in developing the major artist roster of the two companies hereafter, starting with the successful kickoff TWICE has brought. We have absolute confidence that, together, we will lead the rapidly changing music industry from both in and out, alongside our prominent artists’ creations.”

Meanwhile, Republic Records founder and CEO Monte Lipman commented, “JYP Entertainment is one of the most influential voices of our generation. With founder J.Y. Park at its helm, alongside CEO Jimmy Jeong, their passion and vision for this collaboration is incredibly exciting. Having worked with JYP for many years, I admire them as esteemed colleagues and friends.”

The two labels also told Billboard that there was “more news to be announced soon” regarding the first steps of their newly expanded partnership.
