Secret, "Going Head-to-Head with SNSD? We Have Our Weapons"

The four membered girl group Secret, is coming back with their first full album. But unlike the innocent girls who gave their fans cute eye smiles, they have returned as women, wearing all black and looking chic. They are no longer the girls that we knew before. Their new look and their first full album is making fans anticipate their comeback even more.

What is even more surprising is that they are waiting for the comeback of SNSD in order to go head-to-head with the No.1 girl group. SNSD and Secret will be having their comebacks in the same week, and will be promoting alongside each other. Most idol groups had returned to the music scene early October or are making a comeback in early November in order to avoid having to compete with SNSD. In fact, due to the enormous power of SNSD, some groups even rearranged their schedule in order to avoid SNSD, after SNSD’s album release was delayed. 

With their comeback coming up, Star News asked Secret how they were feeling about going up against SNSD. They were surprisingly calm about the whole situation. 

First, Secret answered, “Because SNSD is such a powerful group and is also our seniors (sunbaes), it would be a lie to say that we weren’t worried. However, during the two years that we have promoted we have never thought, ‘we have to get first place,’ or ‘we have to beat that group.’ We just need to be confident in ourselves, and focus on showing our fans the best performance we can give them.”

At the same time, they also showed their confidence in their new album, and encouraged their fans to expect a whole new Secret. They expressed, “If SNSD accentuate their nine member synchronized choreography, we will be emphasizing our healthiness and individual charms. The individual attractiveness that each of our four members portray will be our weapons for our upcoming performances.” Zinger then added, “If SNSD have their tall model-like bodies, we have our small, cute and healthy bodies.”

Through their first full album, Secret is planning to express a chic and independent concept as an icon for modern women in our society today. Their first comeback stage will take place October 20 on Mnet’s “M! Countdown.”
