Lee Seung Gi to Remain on '1 Night 2 Days,' but 'Strong Heart'?

Lee Seung Gi has been dominating the headlines lately and attracting much buzz with rumors about his departure from KBS’s “1 Night 2 Days” and SBS’s “Strong Heart.” However, after long and careful consideration, Lee Seung Gi made an official statement through his agency Hook Entertainment about his final decision to remain on “1 Night 2 Days” until he starts his military duties.

According to Hook Entertainment, Lee Seung Gi is considering to join the army around 2012, so it looks like he will be able to continue to appear in “1 Night 2 Days” for this year at the least.

Lee Seung Gi stated through his agency, “When I first decided to join the cast of ‘1 Night 2 Days,’ I wasn’t able to get sleep because I was so excited about going on a 1 night 2 days trip which I got to do since I became a celebrity. Although it might be hard for you to believe, surprisingly I still feel that way the day before every shooting.”

“It would be inevitable to change schedules once I start a new drama, singing, promotional activities in Japan, but still ‘1 Night 2 Days’ is a program that gave me a lot of things,” he stated and expressed his decision about continuing his performance in both areas at once.

His agency, Hook Entertainment, also clarified about Lee Seung Gi’s withdrawal from the show, “Seung Gi really had a hard time because he had to stay up all night while filming two dramas, ‘Shining Inheritance’ and ‘My Girlfriend is a Gumiho.’ But even during this process, he tried his best so that his performance would not get in the way for both ‘1 Night 2 Days’ and ‘Strong Heart.’” The agency added that Lee Seung Gi began considering the option of dropping the show because “as a singer, a drama actor, and a variety star, there were times when his schedules inevitably overlapped, and he was starting to get physically worn out.”

They continued, “our agency came to the conclusion that it would be difficult for Lee Seung Gi to pull off such an intense schedule so we began discussions with the producers of ‘1 Night 2 Days’ over his future activities and schedule. We decided that Lee Seung Gi and ‘1 Night 2 Days’ will overcome the hardships together.” Then his agency and the producers of ‘1 Night 2 Days’ agreed to “select the date of Lee Seung Gi’s departure once a new member joins the cast and the program’s footing gets stabilized.” However, due to Lee Seung Gi’s affection toward ‘1 Night 2 Days,’ it has been decided that he will remain as a member of the cast until he joins the army.

Rumors have been floating around that the new member joining the ‘1 Night 2 Days’ crew is an actor born in 1972. However, Na Young Seuk, the producer ‘1 Night 2 Days,’ stated in an interview that “Kang Ho Dong or the rest of the main cast members don’t know anything about the new member.” And he also clarified that the “rumors about the actor born in 1972 are unfounded.”

However, Lee Seung Gi has not made any official statements about ‘Strong Heart,’ so it is still unclear whether he will withdraw or not. Meanwhile, Lee Seung Gi is heading over to Japan on March 1st and coming back on the 10th. While he is in Japan, he will attend promotional events arranged by Japan’s TBS channel for SBS’s drama “My Girlfriend is a Gumiho and also film Japanese variety shows.
