Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2011 - July Week 3

For the second week in a row, 2PM’s “Hands Up” is our No. 1 song. This time they were able to widen the gap against f(x) “Hot Summer”, which stays at No. 2. Compared to last week, “Hands Up” still showed a slight increase in points and has a good chance to be on top again next week.

2NE1’s “I’m The Best” moves up three spots to No. 3. This song was behind Rainbow’s “Sweet Dream” and 8Eight’s “Block Those Lips” last week amongst new top 10 entries. “I’m The Best” could be the strongest challenger to “Hands Up” for next week.

The songwriting combo of Choi Gyu Sung and Shin Sa Dong Tiger have two of the four new entries in the top 10 this week, and both songs are showing potentials to hit the top.  At No. 5 is T-Ara’s latest hit “Roly Poly” from their newly released mini-album “John Travolta Wanna Be”.  As you can tell from the album title, T-Ara is going retro style this time. This style of music has proved to be successful for many girl groups in the past few years.  This song features a 12 minute long music video which is fun to watch.

The other Choi Gyu Sung/Shin Sa Dong Tiger hit song at No. 10 is k-pop’s newest sexy queen Hyuna of 4minute.  She released her first solo mini-album recently and the title song “Bubble Pop” debuts straight into the top 10.  Already very popular as the rapper of 4minute (and originally debuting as part of Wonder Girls), Hyuna has came back as a solo singer.

Former Buzz lead singer Min Kyung Hoon also made his comeback, releasing his second full length solo album.  The title song “She” is a medium tempo pop ballad that fits Min’s distinctive voice. The song is about a person’s love confession and Min’s refreshing vocals help relay this message.  “She” is one of our new top 10 entries and is at No. 8 this week.

The fourth new song in the top 10 this week is a perfect summer hit.  Mighty Mouth has teamed up with Soya again for their latest hit “Lalala”.  This exciting dance number has Latin-influenced sounds and is about relieving one’s stress and just having fun this summer. This week makes it to No. 9 and looks to go even further.
