15 K-Pop Idols Who Are Basically The Parents Of Their Groups
When you think about it, many idols end up moving away from their parents at quite a young age. The ridiculous amounts of stress that end up burdening these young idols must be difficult to bear on top of living away from home. Thus, in times of need, “Team Mom” is born. There is always that certain someone in the team who takes on the responsibility of caring for the younger members. So, as a tribute to the hardworking “parents” of K-pop, I present 15 idols who take good care of their groups.
1. NCT’s Taeyong
Not only is Taeyong the leader of NCT 127, he’s more or less the group’s collective nanny. He cooks, he cleans, and he even comforts the younger members when they need some support. If you include the NCT Dream kids, Taeyong has more children to take care of than any sane person would ever want.
2. EXO’s Suho
Suho is the single mother of EXO, bravely raising eight boys on his own. Thanks to him, the members of EXO have grown up to be fine young men. But in reality, everyone knows that EXO is still a group of playful little kids.
3. EXID’s Solji
Known as “Heo Mommy,” Solji is the responsible mother in charge of four goofy girls. Although she may seem to nag too much at times, it’s really because of how much she cares. Even now, when she’s on hiatus because of her health, Solji still manages to take care of her girls by bringing them food at shoots.
4. Wanna One’s Yoon Ji Sung
Throughout “Produce 101 Season 2,” Ji Sung was known as a kindhearted caretaker to the younger trainees. Even Kang Daniel, who has known Ji Sung for years, calls him mom. His empathy is really something to applaud, as he cares about everyone without reservations.
5. Red Velvet’s Irene
As the eldest and arguably most mature member of the group, Irene has taken it upon herself to look after her members. Having forced her to iron clothes in a previous episode, “Weekly Idol” has now decided to have Irene cook on the spot. What’s next, doing the dishes?
6. BTS’s Jin
Despite his childish and fun-loving nature, Jin can be a good parent when he needs to be. The fact that he constantly makes dad jokes and blows kisses proves one thing; Jin isn’t a regular mom. He’s a cool mom. His kids may be hard to handle at times, but they all love each other at the end of the day.
7. All the members of Girls’ Generation (except Seohyun)
I think it can be agreed that all the members of Girls’ Generation come together as Seohyun’s collective mom. The other girls all love to care for their darling maknae, and she is sure to take care of the others as well.
8. GOT7’s Jinyoung
Jinyoung is mostly included in this list just as an excuse to bring back the iconic quote “I’m your mom.” He might be shady sometimes, but Jinyoung does have a caring side to him. Plus, JB really needs his help managing the rest of the kids, especially Jackson and BamBam.
9. SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan
While some people may be kind and affectionate in order to show their love, Jeonghan is the type to tease the people he cares for most. Dino hates being called Jeonghan’s baby, yet Jeonghan still makes him do it. But of course, he only does it out of love.
10. Girl’s Day’s Sojin
When the four members all used to live together, Sojin was the one who cooked and took care of the others when they were sick. And it’s a good thing she did, because it seems like nobody else has what it takes to be the group mom. Watch the clip below and you’ll see what I mean.
11. VIXX’s N
Like many of the others listed, N must play the role of both leader and mother in the group. He’s always there when the others need him, just like in the clip below. Hongbin adorably couldn’t tie his apron, so it was N to the rescue!
In everything that he does, Shownu is just such a dad. There’s something about his face that’s both caring and goofy at the same time. Not only is Shownu good at caring for the other members, he’s incredible with actual children.
13. TWICE’s Jeongyeon
Though she is not the leader or the oldest member, Jeongyeon is probably the best at taking care of TWICE. She is always watching from the sidelines to see if anyone needs help, regardless of how small the problem is. Her attentiveness allows her to notice little things – like someone’s skirt threatening to fly up – and resolve the issue quickly.
14. SHINee’s Key
If Key was any type of parent, he’d be the one who would constantly nag at you. I bet the SHINee members are sick of hearing things like “Clean your room! Do the dishes! Why are you up so late?” all day long. Hey, being a mom is a full-time job, and someone needs to do it.
15. GFRIEND’s Sowon
Taking on the role of the silent guardian in GFRIEND, Sowon never stops looking out for her girls. Her kindness is unconditional, just as a mother’s is. Her role in the group is often overlooked, but her leadership and compassion should be recognized.
Hey Soompiers, which idol do you think takes the best care of their group? Be sure to leave your response in the comments!
