Lee Gun Hee Reveals That He Was Closest To "Dae Jin Young" On "Produce 101 Season 2"

RMW trainee and “Produce 101 Season 2” alumnus Lee Gun Hee recently sat down with Xsportsnews to talk about his experience on the show.

Lee Gun Hee was the trainee who took the crown of vocal position No. 1 with BoA’s “Amazing Kiss.” When asked how he felt about this, he said, “I was really taken aback. I did prepare very diligently, but there were so many great vocalists like Jae Hwan and Se Woon. I didn’t really expect anything. I’m especially thankful to my teammates who trusted me as their leader. When the results were released that day, it happened to be the morning of Mother’s Day. It was such a happy memory because I was able to relay my appreciation for my parents, in addition to getting No.1.”

The RMW trainee also talked about the many valuable friendships that he made during his time on “Produce 101 Season 2.” He was prompted to pick the closest trainee on the show, and he claimed that “there is no way to just pick one.”

He continued, “Initially, I would have picked NU’EST’s Ren, but Lee Dae Hwi and Bae Jin Young protested and said, ‘How could you say that!’ We became really close during the vocal position segment. Because Dae Hwi and Jin Young are like one person anyways, I’ll pick ‘Dae Jin Young.'”

In the interview, Lee Gun Hee also discussed his dream to become an idol from a young age. He shared, “In middle school, I had a summer assignment where I had to create what I would be like in five years. I remember seriously working hard on it. I wrote that I will become a successful idol who breaks through prejudices, and also a singer songwriter like IU, Crush, and Sam Kim who are able to comfort listeners with their music.”
