NU'EST's JR Talks About The Support He's Received From Family And Friends For His New Variety Show
During the press conference for JTBC’s new variety show “Night Goblin” (literal title), NU’EST’s JR opened up about all of the support he’s been getting from family, friends, and the other members of NU’EST.
This will be the idol’s first time appearing as a regular in a variety show, and he excitedly stated, “I was really nervous about the show, but I’m having so much fun because the other cast members treat me so well. I’m grateful to have been offered such a great experience. Everyone here rocks.”
He added, “When I told people I would be appearing in my first variety show as a regular, my fellow members and family were so happy for me. My parents were happy that they’d be able to see me on TV, and the other members told me to enjoy myself and not be too nervous.” JR also talked about the support he’d received from fellow NU’EST member Minhyun, who is currently active as a member of Wanna One. He stated, “Minhyun congratulated me too. We live apart right now, but we actually met up recently. He said he was so happy for me and that he’s supporting me.”
JR was also asked if he’d talked to people he’d met through “Produce 101 Season 2” recently and he replied, “I’ve kept in touch with the people I became friends with on the show and we always send each other words of support. Kwon Hyun Bin has especially sent me a lot of support, and I’ve been sharing a lot of good advice and stories with him as his hyung [older brother figure]. We’re pretty close, so we’re very supportive of each other. We say things like ‘I watched your show,’ ‘You’re working so hard these days,’ and ‘It’s good to see you being active,’ to each other.”
On why she decided to pick JR as a cast member, PD Lee Ji Seon explained, “Through ‘Produce 101 Season 2,’ I saw how thoughtful he is of those around him, and how charming he is, like a hidden gem. Also, I’ve been a fan of NU’EST for a long time, and I have a motherly desire to see the group only walk down flowery paths from now on, so I asked him to be on the show.”
“Night Goblin” is PD Lee Ji Seon’s first variety show on JTBC since moving from MBC and their hit show “I Live Alone.” The program will follow the cast members as they try to be the first in line to try out the hottest foods, products, and locations every week. The first episode will air on July 30 at 6:30 p.m. KST.
