Wanna One's Kang Daniel Reveals How His Famous Dance Move In "Open Up" Came To Be

Wanna One’s Hwang Minhyun, Kang Daniel, and Park Ji Hoon recently sat down for an interview that aired on the August 8 episode of SBS’s “Night of Real Entertainment.”

During the interview, Kang Daniel talked about about his famous dance move from the “Open Up” performance on “Produce 101 Season 2,” as well as his past experience working with FIESTAR’s Cao Lu.

“The thigh dance move [in “Open Up”]…I didn’t practice that at all. Teacher Kahi had told me, ‘It’s your part, so come out a little and perform.’ I thought that I needed to do something, so I added that dance move on impulse, but that ended up [receiving a good response],” Kang Daniel revealed.

The idol also looked back on his performance with Cao Lu back in 2015 on “Her Secret Weapon.” He had been one of the back-up dancers for Cao Lu’s performance of Uhm Jung Hwa’s “Invitation” with SPICA’s Park Sihyun.

He expressed, “That was the first time I ever danced with a girl, and I was so nervous that I kept shaking. During the part where I had to embrace her, I would be shaking like this,” and demonstrated with his hands. Hwang Minhyun chimed in, “It’s obvious if you watch the video.”

Wanna One made their debut on August 7 with “Energetic,” which has already set a record for the most amount of views garnered by a K-pop group debut music video in the first 24 hours. Their first debut stage on a music program will be on the August 10 episode of “M!Countdown.”
