'Idol School' Responds To Reports That Eliminated Students Have Decided Not To Continue Training

After “Idol School” eliminated eight students from the running for the show’s finalist girl group, it has been reported that many of those students have decided not to continue the training program.

In last week’s episode of Mnet’s “Idol School,” the bottom eight students were eliminated. The show later clarified that this meant they would remain in their idol training program but take on a new status as “regular students” without the chance to debut in this season’s finalist group.

On August 9, it was reported by a news outlet that the eight students had decided not to make the transfer to “regular student” status after all, and would not be continuing training.

According to the report, student Snowbaby returned to Taiwan that day, and other students have been receiving offers from other agencies.

Mnet stated, “Possibility for discussion between the eight students and ‘Idol School’ is open. If the students who took their first steps towards becoming singers through this program would like to achieve their dream through another agency, we will support that decision.”

A representative from the show also clarified that they are still in discussion about the training of the “regular students,” and that it is up to the students to make the decision. “We cannot know what they will decide,” they stated.

“Idol School” airs every Thursday at 9:30 p.m. KST on Mnet and tvN.
