SHINee's Taemin Talks About His Hopes As An Artist

Ahead of his solo comeback, SHINee’s Taemin shared some of his thoughts about being an artist, and was also asked about how it feels to be in the tenth year since his debut.

On August 10’s episode of the radio show “Kangta’s Starry Night,” Taemin appeared as a guest. When asked to name songs that have been important to him in his life, he mentioned his love for Michael Jackson. He said, “I came across his ‘Smooth Criminal’ music video by chance, and I saw his ‘lean’ move. I started dancing because I was so amazed by it.”

When asked what he’d like to have that he doesn’t have yet, Taemin replied, “I think I want to be acknowledged. It may seem childish, but we only live once.”

“I hope that I don’t have any regrets when I look back, and I think about how I might be seen by people in the future,” he added.

Kangta replied, “Like with Michael Jackson’s videos, junior artists in the future will watch your performances and think of you as a role model. There are most likely a lot in our agency.”

A fan asked Taemin if he’s had any moments that made him realize he’s in his tenth year since debut, with SHINee’s 10th anniversary coming up in 2018. Taemin replied, “It doesn’t feel real yet.” He added with a laugh, “I still think of myself as being young, and the members seem like they did when I first saw them.”

Taemin was also asked to share his current worries with listeners. “I think my biggest worries lately are what’s right in front of me, so the biggest thing is preparing for my Korean concerts, and wanting to do well.” He also mentioned that he’s been thinking about SHINee’s comeback.

Taemin will be making a solo comeback this month, in addition to holding his first Korean solo concerts. He is also currently filming his own solo reality show, with cameras following him even during this radio show appearance.
