EXO Remains On Top With "Ko Ko Bop"; Soompi's K-Pop Music Chart 2017, August Week 2

EXO’s “Ko Ko Bop” remains on top of our chart for the second straight week. This song swept all the music shows again last week and also remains strong on other chart sources. Congratulations again to EXO!

The top three songs are the same as last week. Holding steady at No. 2 and No. 3 are Red Velvet’s “Red Flavor” and BLACKPINK’s “As If It’s Your Last.”

There are three new songs in the top 10 this week. Moving up six spots to No. 7 is Akdong Musician’s “DINOSAUR.” Written by member Lee Chan Hyuk, this is one of the two title songs from Akdong Musician’s single album “SUMMER EPISODE.” It is a folk style song mixed with EDM elements.

Debuting at No. 9 is GFRIEND’s latest hit “LOVE WHISPER.” This is the title song of GFRIEND’s fifth mini album “PARALLEL.” It is a mid-tempo dance song that shows off the emotions of GFRIEND. It starts off with a lyrical intro, and the cheerful voices of the members remind us of a summer day with a clear blue sky. The lyrics express the emotions of believing in the person you love.

Rock band Buzz returns to our top 10 for the first time in 11 years with “The Love.” Buzz last appeared on our Soompi Top 10 in 2006 when they hit No. 1 with “Don’t Know A Man’s Heart.” Since then, they have had songs on our chart but they did not generate too much fanfare until this current hit. “The Love” is the title track of Buzz’s first mini album “Be One.” It is a rock ballad that reminds us of many of Buzz’s greatest hits. Min Kyung Hoon’s emotional vocal is the highlight of this song.
