Yong Junhyung Responds To Speculations Of Wilber Pan's Song Plagiarizing His Work

Highlight’s Yong Junhyung has responded to rumors of Wilber Pan plagiarizing his work from 2014.

Taiwanese singer Wilber Pan’s new track “Insomnia” has been a center of dispute after it received questions of plagiarism to Yong Junhyung’s past song.

“Insomnia” has been compared to a song jointly written by Yong Junhyung and composer Kim Tae Joo, which was made public on the fourth episode of “Showtime – Burning The Beast” from 2014.

On August 14, a source from Yong Junhyung’s agency Around US Entertainment responded to the speculations, stating, “The publishing rights for [Yong Junhyung’s] song is with Music Cube. We will contact Music Cube if the plagiarism is confirmed.”

The source explained, “If the song is clearly plagiarized, the copyright holder can request termination of the song’s promotion in Taiwan, or allow its usage with a reasonable charge,” and added, “The agency is currently investigating into the situation with Yong Junhyung.”

About the publishing rights, Yong Junhyung’s former agency Cube Entertainment clarified that Music Cube and Cube Entertainment are not related and that Yong Junhyung has a separate publishing contract with Music Cube.

Fans have pointed out that a co-producer of Wilber Pan’s song coincidentally follows the Highlight members on Instagram and that Wilber Pan has been accused of plagiarism a number of times in the past.
