Choi Tae Joon Talks About Quitting Child Acting Due To Stress

On the August 21 episode of KBS 2TV’s “Hello Counselor,” actor and co-host of the show Choi Tae Joon sympathized with one of the guests on the show.

A 12-year-old whose dream is to become an elementary school teacher was being forced by her dad to take acting lessons. As a former child actor, Choi Tae Joon took her side and advocated on her behalf by opening up about his personal struggles.

“I didn’t want to act, but my mom would give me rewards and make me act. But by the time I became a middle school student, I didn’t like it,” said Choi Tae Joon. He continued to share how this affected his personal and social life as well by saying, “If someone would strike up a conversation with me by asking ‘Aren’t you Magic Kid [role he played on a television show]?’ I would start to fight them.”

Choi Tae Joon named one of the most stressful situations and said, “I was so stressed from the entire student body would come to see me when I would enter a school. So I quit [acting].”

Thankfully, his parents gladly accepted his wishes and allowed him to quit acting at the time.

“Hello Counselor” airs on Mondays at 11:10 p.m. KST.
