MBC's "Real Story Eye" Gets Criticized For Secretly Filming Funeral Of Song Sun Mi's Husband
The August 24 episode of MBC’s “Real Story Eye” centered on the murder of actress Song Sun Mi’s husband. The current affairs program went to the funeral and released footage that was secretly filmed there.
“Real Story Eye” questioned the suspect when he was being investigated by the police and asked, “Why did you meet the victim?” to which the suspect gave no answer. They also asked, “Was it a pre-meditated murder?” to which the suspect replied, “No.”
The TV program also questioned residents who live where the maternal grandfather of Song Sun Mi’s late husband lives. Their report included details about the maternal grandfather’s vast fortune.
“Real Story Eye” included footage of Song Sun Mi shedding tears at her husband’s funeral as well as other celebrities attending the funeral. The show is being heavily criticized for appearing to film the bereaved family without their knowledge and consent.
Previously, Song Sun Mi’s 45-year-old husband was murdered on August 21. A suspect described as 28-year-old Mr. Jo has since been arrested.

After the outpouring of criticism from netizens, “Real Story Eye” briefly responded, saying, “Because [Song Sun Mi’s family] asked us to delete the footage, we’ve decided to remove it from [reruns and streaming]. We’ve apologized to Song Sun Mi’s family, and we are planning to post an official apology through our home page.”
