Uhm Hyun Kyung To Star In Upcoming Sitcom By “High Kick” Director
Uhm Hyun Kyung will be taking the lead role in an upcoming TV Chosun sitcom.
On October 16, a source from the drama department stated, “Uhm Hyun Kyung has been confirmed as the lead for TV Chosun’s upcoming sitcom ‘Shut It And Smashing’ [working title].”
The sitcom is about a head of a household who is ruined amidst the end of a recession, in which 80,000 self-employed workers are forced to close down their businesses, and it explores themes such as life with in-laws and the challenge of re-opening a business. Uhm Hyun Kyung is reportedly taking on a goofy but cheerful character, and is expected to bring to the set her keen variety sense, shown off on KBS’s “Happy Together.” This will be her latest project after last appearing on “Single Wife.”
Uhm Hyun Kyung’s appearance in the sitcom is gaining a lot of attention, as it is being directed by Kim Byung Wook, who through his work put many actresses into the spotlight. Actresses such as Song Hye Kyo, Jung Ryeo Won, Hwang Jung Eum, Shin Se Kyung, Yoo In Na, Park Ha Sun, Kim Ji Won, Baek Jin Hee, and Seo Ye Ji all gained immense popularity after starring in one of the director’s sitcoms. Many are interested in the fact that Uhm Hyun Kyung is considered to be the latest “Kim Byung Wook’s muse.”
Director Kim Byung Wook will also be working with producer Kim Jung Shik, with whom he has worked on various projects together in the past, as well as writer Lee Young Chul, who penned the extremely successful “High Kick” series.
