8 Book Recommendations By BTS's RM That You Won't Be Able To Put Down

Known for his smooth rapping and sexy brain, BTS’s RM (Rap Monster) is also a huge bookworm. And as all bookworms can attest, we love to share book recommendations! Here’s a list of just a few of the books that RM has recommended to fans over the years.

1. Herman Hesse’s “Demian”

A coming-of-age novel about a boy’s experiences that shaped his worldview, this book was the inspiration for their music video “Blood, Sweat & Tears,” as well as for their “WINGS” album.

2. Haruki Murakami

This author seems to be a favorite of RM’s! He’s recommended various Murakami books, such as “Kafka on the Shore” and “Norwegian Wood.”

3. Jojo Moyes’s “Me Before You”

This love story about a woman who tries to show the man she loves that “life is still worth living” will have you shedding a few tears.  (Goodreads)

4. Ursula K. Le Guin’s “Those Who Walk Away From Omelas”

This short story about a seemingly perfect utopian that hides a terrible secret was the inspiration for the music video of “Spring Day!”

5. Albert Camus’s “The Stranger”

“Through the story of an ordinary man unwittingly drawn into a senseless murder on an Algerian beach, Camus explored what he termed ‘the nakedness of man faced with the absurd.'” (Goodreads)

6. J.D. Salinger’s “The Catcher in the Rye”

Another coming of age novel, this book is about a teenager and his growing pains.

 7. Tony Porter’s “Breaking Out of the Man Box: The Next Generation of Manhood”

RM’s taste in books is certainly varied! “This book tackles the collective socialization of manhood and provides an in-depth look at the experiences of boys and men.” (Goodreads).

8. Douglas Adams’s “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”

A silly sci-fi adventure, this book is a classic for anyone who loves space travel!

Of the books listed, mayme22 has read “Those Who Walk Away from Omelas,” “The Hitchhiker’s Guide To the Galaxy, and “The Catcher in the Rye.” While she loved the first two books, she has a personal hatred for “The Catcher in the Rye” and has war flashbacks to the time she was forced to read the entire thing for her high school English class.
