SHINee's Taemin Reveals The Simple Reason Why He Became An Idol

While guesting on the October 19 broadcast of SBS’s radio program”2 O’Clock Escape Cultwo Show,” SHINee’s Taemin revealed the reason why he became an idol.

Taemin admitted, “When I was 13 years old, I passed the SM public audition and became a trainee. During that time, I was attending an academy, but at a young age, all I wanted to do was play.”

Taemin said, “My mother knew I liked to dance, so she let me take the audition. She said [if I passed it], she would let me quit the academy. So, I tried out and fortunately, I made it.”

Following that, Taemin reminisced about how it has been nine years since he’s been an idol, and thought about how he is 25 years old this year (by Korean reckoning). He commented, “If I look back, it’s been a long time. Sometimes, when I go to the broadcasting stations, SHINee is the most senior group, so it makes me realize [how much I’ve grown].”

Meanwhile, Taemin recently released his new solo album and music video for title track “Move.”
