MeloMance's 'Gift' Enjoys Resurgence On Music Charts, Going From 148th Place To 1st

Duo MeloMance has joined the ranks of singers who have enjoyed a resurgence on the charts.

MeloMance’s “Gift” topped Bugs, Genie, and Olleh Muisc’s charts at 8 a.m. KST on October 20, with the song ranking in the top 10 on other music sites as well. This is an impressive feat considering the charts currently include heavyweights like BTOB, Bolbbalgan4, BTS, and IU.

“Gift” was first released in July 2017 as the title track of their mini album “Moonlight.” At the time of its release, it did not do well and fell to 148th place on the charts in September, but the song is enjoying popularity now, three months later.

The song’s resurgence began with MeloMance’s appearance on KBS 2TV’s “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook.” The song’s name topped real-time search rankings and began spreading by word of mouth. A video of member Kim Min Suk performing the song became a hot topic on social media, with many marveling at how easily he was able to hit the high notes.

When asked about their new-found popularity, MeloMance said, “We’re so happy and dazed. When the song first started climbing back up the charts, we thought it would peak at around 30th place. We’re so grateful for all the love we’ve been given. We hadn’t been expecting such great results because the bigger your expectations, the bigger your disappointment if something doesn’t happen.”

MeloMance made their debut in 2015 with the mini album “Sentimental” and they are a singer-songwriter duo with Kim Min Suk as the vocalist and Jung Dong Hwan playing the piano.
