Industry Professionals Vote On K-Pop’s Best Brand, Artist, And Song Of 2017

Industry professionals have shared their picks for the titles of K-pop’s top brand, artist, and song of 2017!

The news outlet JoyNews24 recently conducted a survey from October 15 to 24 of 200 professionals in the entertainment industry, including staff at entertainment companies, producers, and entertainment reporters.

BTS was voted as the best K-pop brand of 2017 by a large margin, receiving 82 votes from industry professionals.

Wanna One took second place with 45 votes, followed by SM Entertainment at No. 3 with a score of 20. EXO came in fourth with 15 votes, while Mnet’s “Produce 101” took fifth place with a score of 14 (the network’s “Show Me the Money” also received three votes and the network itself grabbed two).

BIGBANG received six votes, while IU, G-Dragon, YG Entertainment, and TWICE received three votes each. Other votes went to Cube Entertainment, Pledis Entertainment, CJ E&M, JYP Entertainment, NU’EST, and more.

When professionals were asked to name the best artist in K-pop this year, JoyNews24 noted that the competition was close between Wanna One and BTS. 50 votes went to Wanna One, putting them in first place, with BTS as the runner-up with 44 votes.

IU came in third place with a score of 18, while TWICE and Bolbbalgan4 both received nine votes.

Eight votes went to Yoon Jong Shin, and EXO received four votes. Heize and Sunmi also were voted for by three professionals each, while additional votes went to MAMAMOO, Davichi, The Black Skirts, Lee Hyori, Zico, Penomeco, BTOB, and more.

The top spot on 2017’s best songs list went to Yoon Jong Shin’s “Like It.” It received 49 votes from industry professionals.

The track “Pick Me” from “Produce 101 Season 2” (also included on Wanna One’s debut mini album) came in second with 45 votes. Wanna One’s “Energetic” also received three votes, and “Never” received two.

Heize’s “You, Clouds, Rain” (featuring Shin Yong Jae) took third place with 19 votes, while Red Velvet’s “Red Flavor” came in fourth with 13 votes.

Some artists had more than one track make the list. IU’s “Through the Night” was voted for by 12 professionals, while her song “Autumn Morning” received four votes and “Palette” also received a vote. TWICE’s “Signal” grabbed three votes and “Knock Knock” received two votes.

Sunmi’s “Gashina” was voted for by five professionals, while Ailee’s “Goblin” OST “I Will Go to You Like the First Snow” received four votes. Bolbbalgan4’s recent song “Some” took four votes, while two votes each went to BTS’s “DNA,” EXO’s “Ko Ko Bop,” Jung Seung Hwan’s “If It Was You” from the drama “Another Oh Hae Young” and Crush’s “Goblin” OST “Beautiful.”
