EXO's D.O. Shares In What Ways He Thinks He Has Grown Since His First Film

During a press conference for his film “Room Number 7” on November 7, EXO’s D.O. opened up about his growing career as an actor.

In the film, the singer plays a college student currently on leave who works part-time at a failing DVD room in order to try and pay back his debts. Both he and the DVD room’s owner (played by Shin Ha Kyun) get caught up in a web of lies and secrets that they struggle to break apart from.

In regards to working with the senior actor, D.O. shared, “Ever since I was younger, I’ve always thought about how I wanted to work with Shin Ha Kyun at least once whenever I watched his movies. It was an honor to be able to act together and I had fun filming because he made me feel comfortable.”

When the MC complimented the EXO member on his acting skills, he replied, “Thank you. I think I study and learn a lot from my seniors on every production I work on. I continue to act with this mindset that I am learning.”

As for how he’s changed throughout his short but successful career, D.O. expressed, “I was too nervous when I was filming ‘Cart’ because I had never stood in front of a camera [to act] before, but I think that now, my nerves have gotten better at least.”

The idol also opened up about how he prepared himself for a character that becomes entangled in a relatable and realistic situation like debt. “It was difficult since I couldn’t personally relate to the problem of student loans, but I have a lot of friends and I asked around a lot indirectly,” D.O. explained. “I acted as [my character] Tae Jung in the hopes that young adults will be able to relate to and become motivated while watching him.”

“Room Number 7” is set to premiere in theaters on November 15.
