Yoon Shi Yoon Shares His Thoughts On "Single Weddings" After Officiating A Ceremony

On the November 19 episode of SBS’s “Your Big Question,” Yoon Shi Yoon, Kim Sang Ho, and Jang Hyun Sung set out to explore the questions of love and work.

The topic covered in the episode was “single weddings,” where mostly women participate in wedding ceremonies alone without a spouse. This can be done for a variety of reasons, whether by women who just want to have a fancy ceremony without actually getting married, women who are looking to boost their confidence by promising to love themselves in a ceremony, and/or women who are anxious about their future marriage prospects and want to have a ceremony while they’re still young.

The bride at this particular ceremony said, “I’m not ready to process what’s happened yet. Honestly, my thoughts haven’t changed. In the responses I get from people, women tell me that I’m cool and men say ‘But you still have to get married sometime.'”

Yoon Shi Yoon, who officiated the ceremony, said, “I thought they might be embarrassed but I think it takes a lot of confidence and belief in yourself to proclaim to the world that you’re going to love yourself. The most important thing isn’t whether you become a couple or not, it’s whether you love yourself.”
