SBS’s new program “Master in the House” is off to a great start!

According to Nielsen Korea, the second half of the premiere of “Master in the House” scored an average viewership rating of 11.1 percent in the metropolitan area. The highest viewership rating recorded in the same area was 14.0 percent. The average viewership ratings for the entire nation were 6.5 percent for the first half of the episode and 10.4 percent for the second half.

Not only did the show surpass 10 percent in viewership ratings on its premiere, but it took the No. 1 spot in its time slot, beating out KBS’s “Happy Sunday” programming (8.7 percent in the metropolitan area, 8.6 percent nationwide) and MBC’s “Wizard of Nowhere” (5.6 percent in the metropolitan area, 5.3 percent nationwide).

The show also beat out other longtime Sunday variety shows that did not air in the same time slot, such as MBC’s “King of Masked Singer” (10.6 percent in the metropolitan area, 10.4 percent nationwide) and SBS’s “Running Man” (7.0 percent in the metropolitan area, 6.8 percent nationwide).

The show was also popular among the coveted age group of 20-49 (important for advertising), scoring 6.0 percent in that group. This put it in first place among that age group for all the publicly broadcasted, cable, etc. variety shows that aired on December 31.

In addition, the show’s name and all the cast members took No. 1 on the realtime search rankings during the episode. “Master in the House” stars Lee Seung Gi on his return from the military, BTOB’s Yook Sungjae, Lee Sang Yoon, and Yang Se Hyung.

The highest viewership rating (14.0 percent) was recorded at the moment that the identity of the “master” of the house the cast were staying in was revealed.

“Master in the House” airs every Sunday at 6:25 p.m. KST.
