Here Are Koreans’ 5 Favorite TV Shows Currently On Air

Gallup Korea conducted a three-day survey from February 6 to February 8 asking Koreans (aged 19 years and above) to name up to two of their current favorite TV programs. The No. 1 TV show for this month, with votes from 9.8 percent of 1,004 total participants, is the KBS2 weekend drama “My Golden Life.” This is the first time a drama has ranked No. 1 for four consecutive months since the survey began in 2013.

“My Golden Life” revolves around a woman named Seo Ji An (Shin Hye Sun), who suddenly finds out that she is the daughter of a wealthy family overnight, only to realize that it was a lie. The show explores the effects of parents’ wealth and hard work on the status of their children, as well as the very realistic concerns of both younger and older generations, including employment, marriage, and childbirth.

Ranking second, MBC’s “Infinite Challenge” received votes from 9.1 percent of the participants. “Infinite Challenge” had a 12-week hiatus due to the MBC general labor strike last September. Ever since its return in November, the show has maintained its position in second place.

With 5.0 percent of the vote, tvN’s “Youn’s Kitchen 2” comes in at third place for its second consecutive month, reflecting continued local interest in variety shows about cooking and traveling. Last year, season one of “Youn’s Kitchen” grabbed eighth place in April and fourth place in May.

Coming in fourth and fifth are JTBC’s “War of Words” and MBC’s “I Live Alone,” respectively.
