Swoony Leads, Awesome Grandmas, And More: What To Watch After "Just Between Lovers"

It’s been a few weeks since our favorite OTP, Won Jin Ah and 2PM’s Junho, completed their drama, “Just Between Lovers.” It was a melodrama that consisted of various elements like the charming main lead Lee Junho, his character’s friendship with a bitter grandmother, and even that second-lead who we always seem to fall in love with! These aspects made this drama so enjoyable to watch and you might understand me when I say that it’s been tough to move on from it!

Sometimes it’s difficult to get over a drama; and if you’re like me and have already re-watched the series, another good way to help ease the pain of getting over a good K-drama is to look at some parts about the drama that made it so endearingly good and then watch other K-dramas that are similar to it. It definitely helps!

Here’s a look at some of the elements of “Just Between Lovers” that made it so hard to get over (with some recommendations of other K-dramas)!

The lovable main lead, Lee Junho

Lee Junho has made quite the name for himself these past recent years. Lee Kang Doo in “Just Between Lovers” was his first-ever starring role and it was an impressive one to say the least. His ability to convey such array of emotions and the various times he broke down in tears had us all sympathizing with his character.

If you’re going through some serious Lee Junho withdrawal, I’d recommend taking a look at his other big hit, “Chief Kim.”

His role as Seo Yool in the office rom-com totally won the hearts of many despite the fact that he was considered an antagonist. If you want to see him showcase his talented acting skills, you have to check it out!

A melodrama with a happy ending

There were some close calls towards the end of the series that made viewers anticipate a possible bad ending. The poor main character, Kang Doo (Lee Junho) had a lot of obstacles to get through and faced some near-death moments that really had viewers on the edge of our seats.

We wanted to see Kang Doo and Moon Soo happy. We like happy endings and could most definitely do without the tragic ones. If you’re looking for another melodrama with a happy ending and similar feel, make sure you check out “Angel Eyes.”

“Angel Eyes” stars Lee Sang Yoon and Ku Hye Sun as first loves who get separated after tragedy strikes. Years after, they meet again and cannot get over the love that they once felt for each other when they were younger. This journey of them reigniting their love and figuring out how to be together despite their tragic pasts is a story you don’t want to miss!

It’s also a love story that has a lot of parallels with our favorite OTP from “Just Between Lovers” – they both revolve around having met when they were younger and being reunited again as adults. Plus, the happy ending part will help alleviate some of the stress you might feel while watching the series. Yay for happy endings!

A grandmother as a best friend

One of the most endearing parts of “Just Between Lovers” was the relationship between Kang Doo and the grandmother. It genuinely seemed like they were best friends and each other’s source of support. The constant bickering and poking fun at each other was charming and made us love their friendship! It’s definitely something that we will miss seeing week to week.

If you are missing this element of the drama, you can also check out “Dear My Friends.” This K-drama also stars the same grandmother, Na Moon Hee. It follows the friendships of people who are older and the relationships they have with a younger generation. It’s an emotional rollercoaster of a drama that will have you both laughing and crying at the same time. Na Moon Hee’s character is similar in “Just Between Lovers” in that she creates a heart-warming bond with a younger character. She really knows how to tug at your heartstrings!

Lee Ki Woo as the second-lead

We can’t overlook the second-lead of this drama, Seo Joo Won (Lee Ki Woo). There’s always something about the smart, successful, handsome, and tall second-lead that we can never get over even though we love the main lead. But, despite the fact that he was so caring and sweet to Moon Soo, we knew that his love for her was doomed from the start.

Believe it or not, Lee Ki Woo has played the second-main on more than one occasion. And he’s pretty good at it. If you’re looking to see him in another heart-breaking but oh-so-charming second-lead role, make sure you check out “Flower Boy Ramyun Shop.” There’s something about his innocent glances at the female lead, his willingness to pursue and try and win over the girl he loves that is so effortlessly portrayed in his acting.
