10 Aegyo-Hating Idols Who Hilariously Attempted To Act Cute

Ah, aegyo. Whether you think it’s cute or cringe, K-pop wouldn’t be K-pop without it. And even if they try to be professionals, some idols still struggle when acting cute for their fans. However, that only makes their attempts all the more hilarious. To see the funniest moments of idols trying (and mostly failing) to do aegyo, read on!

1. TWICE’s Tzuyu

Though Tzuyu is the youngest member of her group, she doesn’t seem to like aegyo very much. She almost reminds me of a duchess who seems above doing such childish things. So when she’s forced to be cute, she gets super embarrassed, much to her members’ amusement.

2. SEVENTEEN’s Woozi

Despite his cute appearance, SEVENTEEN often refers to Woozi as a manly man who tends to be quite serious. However, this fact only makes make us want to see his aegyo even more! In the clip below, you can see Jeonghan and Vernon’s version of the “Oppaya” song before witnessing Woozi’s turn. And though it pains him to do so, he did a great job of being cute.

3. iKON’s B.I

B.I is known for leading iKON with confidence and swag, not for his cuteness. In this clip from “Weekly Idol,” even the other iKON members said that they hadn’t seen him be cute in all the time they’d known one another. But since a fan requested it, B.I cringed through the entire thing just to make iKONICs happy.

4. Red Velvet’s Wendy

Though she’s good at acting lovable on stage, something about doing aegyo just doesn’t sit right with Wendy. The fact that she gets embarrassed so easily is super cute, even cuter than her actual aegyo. See below to see what I mean!

5. NCT’s Mark

Mark is yet another idol who can act cool and composed on stage but can’t do aegyo to save his life. Though he has more than enough natural cuteness, something about being forced to do it on the spot just makes him squirm. Watch below as member Haechan makes an appearance to punish Mark for his lack of aegyo skills!

6. EXID’s Hani

Because of her dorky personality, I find it hard to believe that Hani would ever do aegyo seriously. It seems like she tried her best, but somehow you can’t help but find her performance laughable. Hey, at least she was entertaining!

7. GOT7’s JB

As “chic and sexy” JB, he’s undoubtedly the GOT7 member who’s the worst at aegyo. Though he actively refuses to be cute, there will be times when he’s forced to do it against his will. And when such times roll around, it only means more fun for those of us watching.

8. Hyorin

When a fan requested SISTAR to do the gwiyomi player, there were two very different reactions. First is Bora, who complies with her fan’s request for aegyo. And then there’s Hyorin, who simply responds with “four” when asked the question of what two plus two is. Relatable.

9. DAY6’s Jae

As we see the DAY6 members attempt aegyo one-by-one with varying degrees of success, Jae is the final person to go. Because he is asked to act like a cat, he simply says “meow” with an incredibly deadpan face. Though I would’ve loved to see him give it a genuine try, this version is pretty funny.

10. Super Junior

Maybe it’s because they’ve been in the game for so long, but Super Junior really doesn’t seem like they have time for aegyo. When trying to do Park Ji Hoon’s trendy aegyo, the members struggle immensely with acting pure and innocent. I would be the same if I was in their position, to be honest.
