Jo Jae Hyun Resigns From Professorship After Admission Of Sexual Harassment

Following his admission of sexual harassment, actor Jo Jae Hyun has resigned from his professorship at Kyungsung University.

On February 26, Kyungsung University confirmed, “Jo Jae Hyun submitted his resignation letter yesterday (on the 25th). We are going through the process according to the school guidelines, and are currently completing a background check.”

Sexual harassment allegations against Jo Jae Hyun were recently brought to light with the spreading of the #MeToo movement in Korea.

Jo Jae Hyun released an official statement in response on February 24, admitting, “I will confess. I’ve lived a wrongful life. During my 30 years of acting, I made many mistakes with sinful words and actions towards my peers, staff members, and juniors.”

He added, “I bow my head in apology to the victims who have been greatly hurt. I will now lay everything down. I will no longer think of myself. I will not try to avoid it. I will lay it all down. From here on out, I will look back on my life with a remorseful heart towards the victims. I am very ashamed and sorry.”

It was also revealed that Jo Jae Hyun will be removed from his tvN drama “Cross” and will be stepping down as executive chairman of the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival, which he has done since 2009.
