Hwang Chi Yeol Talks About Being NU'EST's Former Vocal Coach And Seeing Them At Award Ceremonies

In a recent interview, singer Hwang Chi Yeol talked about his affection for NU’EST and his past experience as the group’s vocal coach before their rise to fame.

Hwang Chi Yeol spoke fondly of his days teaching the NU’EST members and expressed his excitement that they had been able to meet again under better circumstances. Referring to their reunion at a year-end awards show, he said, “The NU’EST kids and I were both in awe when we met each other at an award ceremony. Because we had only ever seen each other in a tiny, cramped room.”

He went on to recall, “Sometimes, when they came to their lessons exhausted from running around all day because of their packed schedule, I would give them 30 minutes to take a nap. Because it was my lesson time, and I could do whatever I wanted with it. After getting some rest, their voices would sound better, and they were great students.”

Hwang Chi Yeol also reported feeling pleased to see all of the NU’EST members finally achieving success in their careers. “Min Hyun is doing well in Wanna One, and NU’EST W is doing well too,” he commented. “I feel really happy that both are doing well.”

Earlier this year, Hwang Chi Yeol posted photos with a few of the NU’EST members after running into them at the 32nd Golden Disc Awards in January. The singer shared photos with Ren, Baekho, and Hwang Min Hyun on Instagram and wrote, “NU’EST, whom I was so happy to see again. Just as they did seven years ago, my dongsaengs continue to always work hard today.”

He went on, “After all the hard times, I can’t believe we’re receiving Bonsangs together. I’m deeply moved. Let’s make great music together.”
