"The Princess And The Matchmaker" Cast Celebrates Reaching 1 Million Viewers
The film “The Princess and the Matchmaker” surpassed the one million mark at the box office in Korea on its seventh day after release!
The film, which achieved first place on the day of its premiere, maintained its No. 1 spot for six consecutive days. “The Princess and the Matchmaker” is described as enjoyable for all ages, with a cheerful storyline and fresh chemistry from cast members Shim Eun Kyung, Lee Seung Gi, Yeon Woo Jin, Kang Min Hyuk, and more.
The success of “The Princess and the Matchmaker” has made many people curious to see if there will be a new boom of romance films, following a period in which there have been fewer movies of this genre in theaters. The curiosity has been sparked because the movie surpassed a million moviegoers in the fastest time in three years for a Korean romance film.
The last film to achieve this was “Beauty Inside,” starring Han Hyo Joo, which premiered in 2015. “Beauty Inside” reached the million mark nine days after its premiere and reached 2.05 million moviegoers. “The Princess and the Matchmaker” broke the record two days sooner than “Beauty Inside.” On this note, expectations are high for the upcoming romance film “I’m on My Way to Meet You” (working title) starring So Ji Sub and Son Ye Jin, which will hit theaters on March 14.
To celebrate its milestone, the cast of “The Princess and the Matchmaker” (Shim Eun Kyung, Lee Seung Gi, Yeon Woo Jin, Kang Min Hyuk, Jo Bok Rae) and director Hong Chang Pyo gathered for a group photo with moviegoers.
“The Princess and the Matchmaker” is a comedy film that tells story of the best fortune teller in the Joseon era, who looks for the most compatible suitor for the princess.
