Son Ye Jin Gets Into Character For Her First Drama Role In 5 Years
Upcoming JTBC drama “Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food” (working title) has released stills of Son Ye Jin.
“Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food” will tell a realistic love story between a supervisor of a coffee company in her 30s who is still looking for stability in both love and life named Yoon Jin Ah (played by Son Ye Jin) and a video game character designer in his 30s who is free-spirited but sincere in love named Seo Joon Hee (played by Jung Hae In).
The relationship between these two acquaintances begins to change after Yoon Jin Ah returns home after working abroad. When she reunites with Seo Joon Hee after three years, she realizes she feels differently towards him.
Son Ye Jin explained her reasons for choosing this drama as her comeback to TV screens after five years. She first said, “I have a lot of trust in director Ahn Pan Seok.”
She continued, “On set, the director is an even better person than I could imagine. His soft charisma, warmth, and quick judgment make the on-set atmosphere even better.”
In the drama, Son Ye Jin’s character has realistic concerns. As a woman in her 30s, she feels like she should be married and have a stable career. Despite having a job, she finds herself caught up in it and doesn’t have a boyfriend to plan the future with.
Like other people in their 30s, she feels empty and worried because she feels as if she hasn’t achieved much professionally or romantically. Son Ye Jin praised the script and said, “The feelings many women in my age experience were right there in the script. A calm story, and situations and a script that are easy to empathize with made me think that I needed to do this drama.”
Son Ye Jin shared that she was reading the script many times to prepare for the role and added, “It’s been a while since I’ve done a drama, so there is some difficulty because of the quick pace. However, I’m working hard to give it vitality and a sense of reality.”
Director Ahn Pan Seok of “Behind the White Tower” and writer Kim Eun will work together to create this drama. “Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food” will premiere on March 30 at 11 p.m. KST as the follow-up drama to “Misty.”
