"Weekly Idol" Looks Back On Most Memorable Moments Over The Years

On April 4, MBC Every1’s “Weekly Idol” aired an episode that highlighted some of the show’s most memorable and viral moments during its seven-year season.

This special episode was narrated by BTOB’s Ilhoon, who previously appeared as a temporary MC. During the past 2,448 days, the show featured 152 groups, 696 people, and aired over 300 episodes before it ended its first season on March 28.

The episode included a Hall of Fame portion, which included a look at some of the show’s famous “double speed” dance challenges. The “best five” dancers of the double speed dance challenge were named as GFRIEND, SEVENTEEN, Wanna One, BLACKPINK, and Kim Young Chul.

BTS, Red Velvet, IU, Shinhwa, and Girls’ Generation were chosen as the best dancers of the “random play” dance challenge.

BoA, Rain, Park Jin Young, and Uhm Jung Hwa made the list of “idols’ ancestors” who made an appearance on the popular show.

After making 15 appearances on “Weekly Idol,” INFINITE entered the Hall of Fame as the idols who came on the show the most.

“Weekly Idol” also revealed which clips received the most views online. First place went to Wanna One’s Park Ji Hoon’s crying on cue, followed by GFRIEND and TWICE’s double speed dance challenges.

The idol variety show then announced the moments that recorded the show’s highest viewership ratings. First place was awarded to when EXO’s Suho danced to girl group songs. BIGBANG’s G-Dragon’s random play dance and Wanna One’s Ong Seong Woo’s vocal imitation of a Korean instrument came in second and third place, respectively.

“Weekly Idol Season 2” will premiere on April 18 at 6 p.m KST with new MCs Lee Sang Min, Yoo Se Yoon, and Kim Shin Young.
