Man Who Contracted Murder Of Song Sun Mi's Husband Receives Sentence

The court has announced its sentence in the first trial for the man who contracted the murder of actress Song Sun Mi’s husband.

The man (hereafter known as “A”), one of the cousins of the deceased, paid 2 billion won (approximately $1.9 million) to another man to kill the victim in August of 2017. Song Sun Mi’s agency has released details from the prosecution’s investigation that state that the attack was carried out while her husband was assisting his grandfather with attempting to reclaim property that had been illegally seized using forged documents.

In addition to the murder charge, A is also under charges of forging a contract of gift and power of attorney to take hold of his grandfather’s real estate worth 60 billion won (approximately $56 million) as well as withdrawing 300 million won (approximately $282,000) in savings.

On April 11, the Seoul Central District Court sentenced A to life in prison. It was stated, “He needs to be isolated from society for an indefinite amount of time.”

Song Sun Mi attended the trial with her late husband’s sister. She stayed for the entirety of the trial before leaving silently. The actress has been taking a rest since her last appearance in MBC’s “Return of Bok Dan Ji,” which ended in November of 2017.

The man who carried out the murder of the deceased was sentenced to 22 years in prison on March 16 and has filed an appeal of the decision.
