KBS’s “Immortal Songs” aired a celebration for Cho Yong Pil’s 50th debut anniversary in their most recent episode with great success.

The episode that aired on April 21 recorded average nationwide ratings of 13.6 percent. This is a 5.5 percent rise from the previous episode’s 8.1 percent. The show was the most-watched variety show of its time slot.

The show has been asking Cho Yong Pil to appear on the show since it began airing in 2011, and he finally agreed to celebrate his 50th debut anniversary. With everyone cheering him on, Cho Yong Pil expressed his gratitude and said, “It’s been about 20 years since I last came to KBS. Seeing you all makes me feel so much younger,” and “When I reached my 40th debut anniversary, I thought my career would end in five years, but I’ve come this far. I’ve been able to reach my 50th debut anniversary thanks to all of you.”

The Cho Yong Pil special will be a three-part series, and the first part featured performances from singers like Park Jung Hyun, Kim Kyung Ho, Hwanhee, Kim Tae Woo, and married couple team Kim So Hyun and Son Jun Ho. They reinterpreted many of Cho Yong Pil’s classics and enthralled the audience.

The second part will air on April 28 and the final part will air on May 5.
