SBS To Produce

Running Man” is coming to Vietnam!

On April 23, it was reported that SBS would be partnering with Vietnamese investment company Madison Group to produce four new television shows in Vietnam. In addition to a Vietnamese version of SBS’s popular variety show “Running Man,” the broadcast network will also be producing a travel-themed variety show, as well as a sitcom.

SBS will be investing 5 million dollars in the project, and the production staff of the original “Running Man” will be directly participating in the creation of the Vietnamese spin-off. The Korean staff will be collaborating with Vietnamese staff to produce a new “Running Man” that is tailored specifically to local viewers.

The broadcast network officially announced its production plans at the GEM convention center in Ho Chi Minh City on April 19. Ha Seung Bo, the SBS executive heading the project, remarked, “We will make ‘Running Man,’ one of the most popular shows in Asia, into an appealing show that is well-suited to the tastes of Vietnamese viewers. Through [our show], we hope to stimulate more cultural exchanges between the two countries [Korea and Vietnam].”

The Chinese version of “Running Man,” which premiered in 2014, enjoyed considerable popularity in China and even set a new record for the highest viewership ratings achieved by a variety show.
