BBC Producer Expresses Excitement About New OCN Remake Of

BBC’s International Scripted Producer David Belshaw shared his thoughts on the upcoming OCN drama “Mistress.”

“Mistress” is a mystery thriller that will tell the story of four women with dark secrets who get swept up in a murder case. It’s a remake of the series “Mistresses” that aired on BBC in 2008 and ABC in 2013. It will incorporate the storyline of the four women and OCN’s experience in mystery and thriller dramas to produce an interesting new series.

Unlike other dramas of this genre that are often centered around male characters, the four female characters—Jang Se Yeon (played by Han Ga In), Kim Eun Woo (played by Shin Hyun Bin), Han Jung Won (played by Choi Hee Seo), and Do Hwa Young (played by Goo Jae Yee)—will take center stage.

David Belshaw said, “OCN’s original ‘Mistress’ is the first project where a BBC original is being remade in Asia. I’m excited for the cast of Han Ga In, Shin Hyun Bin, Choi Hee Seo, and Goo Jae Yee, and look forward to the Korean version of ‘Mistress’ that will tell the story of the lives and loves of these four friends.”

He added, “I’m also happy that Studio Dragon is remaking BBC’s ‘Mistresses.’ Like the original series, OCN’s ‘Mistress’ will also tell the story of friendship, love, betrayal, and loss. I think it will be received with enthusiastically by the viewers. I look forward to the reactions when it premieres on April 28.”

“Mistress” will be directed by Han Ji Seung of “Alone in Love” and “Valid Love,” and co-written by Go Jung Woon and Kim Jin Wook of “Diary of June” and “Time Renegades.”

“Mistress” will premiere on April 28 as the follow-up drama to “Children of the Lesser God.”
