In order to consider more of the global K-pop market, the weekly chart criteria has been adjusted. Global fan votes and social media will now account for larger proportions of the final scores to determine the “M!Countdown” winner each week.

A new corner called “Song of the Day” will be revealed to also focus on the music trends in Korea. For the separate “Song of the Day” weekly chart, the score will be made up of 30 percent digital streaming, 30 percent social media, 20 percent karaoke, 15 percent trends, and 5 percent mobile. The social media score will look at view counts and likes on Korean Facebook videos, the karaoke score will calculate how much songs are sung at karaoke, and the mobile score will be based on ringtones. The song that places first on the chart will be revealed through the “Song of the Day” corner each week.

In addition, “M!Countdown” will now be hosted by a global MC crew. Idols who are proficient in different languages will introduce the “M!Countdown” chart and host special corners to interact with global K-pop fans. Each week will feature a unique new combination of MCs.
