Girls' Day's Hyeri, Uhm Tae Goo, And Kim Hee Won Gather For Script Reading Of New Film

New film “Dempsey Roll” (tentative title) has released photos from its first script reading.

“Dempsey Roll” is a comedy-drama film that will tell the story of a man named Byung Goo who used to be a professional boxer in the past, but now lives a helpless life due to a mistake he made in the past.

After getting diagnosed with punch-drunk syndrome, a condition caused by repeated concussions, Byung Goo becomes determined to complete his own unique style of boxing.  This “pansori boxing” combines Korea’s distinct rhythm with boxing steps and eventually becomes Byung Goo’s specialty.

Uhm Tae Goo will appear as Byung Goo. Although the actor has appeared in many films including “Coin Locker Girl,” “The Age of Shadows,” and “A Taxi Driver,” this will be his first comedy film.

Girls’ Day member Hyeri will play the role of Min Ji, who is a new employee at the gym and offers her support to Byung Goo.

Kim Hee Won will portray the role of Director Park who runs the boxing gym and teams up with Byung Goo to form a fun duo.

At the script reading on April 19, the actors reportedly prepared to show fun, comic acting while the crew displayed determination in presenting moviegoers with a new world of boxing.

Director Jung Hyuk Gi said, “I will show you a film that maintains a sense of humor while making you think about your forgotten dreams and the things that are disappearing.”

“Dempsey Roll” began filming on April 25 and is scheduled to premiere in 2019.
